Membership Criteria
MEMBERSHIP
1. Full Membership
will be open to Fellows, Associate Fellows or Graduate Members of the Hong Kong Psychological Society who meet the qualification criteria.
Full Membership Qualification Criteria
(a)Have satisfactorily completed an accredited undergraduate degree, in psychology or equivalent, approved by the HKPS; AND
(b)Have satisfactorily completed an accredited postgraduate Degree, or its equivalent, in Counselling Psychology; AND
(c)Have successfully completed not less than 1000 hours supervised practicum within the postgraduate degree AND
(d)Have regular, ongoing supervision, consultation and/or engagement in other forms of reflective practice through approved professional development activities in relation to their clinical practice.
2. Membership Via Grandparent Clause
Application for Membership through the Grandparent Clause is open to Fellows, Associate Fellows or Graduate Members, of the Hong Kong Psychological Society. The period for admission under the Grandparent clause is within the first 3 years of the establishment of the Division.(Expiry: by the end of August 2009)
Grandparent Qualification Criteria:
Academic Qualification
(a) Have an undergraduate degree in psychology, or equivalent from an institution approved by the HKPS; AND
(b) Have completed a postgraduate qualification in Counselling Psychology, or a closely related area, approved by the Division.
Experience
Have a minimum of 5 years full time or equivalent, post-qualification practice in the field of counselling psychology for holders of postgraduate degrees ; or a minimum of 10 years full time or equivalent post-qualification practice in the field of counseling psychology for holders of undergraduate degrees.
Continuing Education
Have regular, ongoing supervision, consultation and/or engagement in other forms of reflective practice through approved professional development activities in relation to their clinical practice.
3.Honorary Membership
he Division Committee may recommend for approval as Honorary Members, by a General Meeting of the Division, any Honorary Fellow, Fellow, Associate Fellow or Graduate Member of the Hong Kong Psychological Society who has made a distinguished contribution to the advancement of counselling psychology. Honorary Members are not entitled to vote.
4.Affiliateship
of the Division will be open to candidates who are not eligible for Full Membership of the Division, Honorary Fellows, Fellows, Associate Fellows, Graduate Members or Affiliates of the Society.
(a) No technical qualification will be required on the part of a candidate for admission to Affiliateship provided that s/he has a long-standing interest in counselling psychology or that his or her professional occupation is normally with a genuine interest in counselling psychology.
(b) Affiliates will be entitled to attend scientific meetings. They may also attend other meetings at the invitation of the Committee but they will not be entitled to vote.
(c) Affiliates of the Division will sustain their affiliation as long as they strictly refrain from publicizing it, otherwise the Division will repudiate the affiliation.
